He liked to read newspapers and history books - "Time", "Haaretz" and "Jerusalem Post". His second wife, Ursula (Miriam), was in charge of housekeeping and material life - in which he was a little less interested. They had two daughters: Yael, Adina. Berthold spoke German and continued to speak it in Israel, even though he knew Hebrew at a basic level. His parents and brother Herbert emigrated from Germany to South Africa. Miriam worked for many years in the hematology laboratory of Clalit Health Fund, at Ezra Hospital, as a laboratory assistant, and retired at the age of 60. Miriam liked reading newspapers and stories. She raised her two daughters, Yael and Adina, with love and dedication.
